Chimeric Software @chimericlabs

Something new is being assembled.

The parts already exist. The creature does not, yet.

Chimeric Software is building it in Boston, in stealth.

One email when it's ready. Nothing else, and never shared.

Why Chimeric

The Chimera was made from several creatures. It moved as one.

We are building its software.

The best-known Chimera is an Etruscan bronze from about 400 BC. It was dug up in Arezzo in 1553 without its snake, and it took 232 years to get one.

  1. A quick pen sketch of the bronze Chimera, a lion with a goat's head rising from its back and no snake for a tail.

    1550s

Sketched on a letter from the sculptor Baccio Bandinelli to the Duke of Florence. No snake.

  2. A woodcut of the Chimera of Arezzo from a seventeenth-century book of monsters, with a short stump where the tail should be.

    1642

Printed in Ulisse Aldrovandi's history of monsters. Still no snake, only a stump.

  3. A nineteenth-century engraving of the bronze Chimera with its snake tail curling up to bite the goat's horn.

    1785

A sculptor adds the snake and has it bite the goat's horn, which is probably wrong. Engraved here in 1878.

  4. A close photograph of the bronze lion's head, mouth open, mane in flame-shaped locks.

    Today

The whole animal, in Florence's National Archaeological Museum since 1870.

The parts

Four kinds of part, joined by contracts, moving as one program.

  • Patterns

    Code that matches, exactly.

  • Judgment

    Models that select, at scale.

  • People

    People who decide, with taste.

  • Language

Models that explain, step by step.
